Free Open Source version of MS Office		www.openoffice.org - Has 95% of all of the bells and whistles of MS Office while saving you hundreds of dollars. The program is free. You may find that the 5% it doesn't have are features you never needed anyways. A great piece of software.
NVU - Free WYWIWYG Editor		www.nvu.com - A "What You See Is What You Get" Editor. Think of it as Dreamweaver Lite. A very handy program to create web pages with. I used it to format the tables in this very article. It certainly beats doing that by hand!
FTP Program - Filezilla		filezilla.sourceforge.net  - Handy program for uploading or downloading files to / from your web site.
Email on steroids - gmail		gmail.com - I use gmail almost exclusively now. With 2.7 GB of storage (yes that's 2700 MB) and growing, gmail has a wealth of features that has me addicted. Email me and I will send you a gmail invite to get started for free.
Color Cop		www.datastic.com/tools/colorcop - This is a very small and handy program. If you have ever tried to figure out the exact color of any graphic, this program makes it a snap. I use it regularly when creating new web graphics.
Audacity - Audio editing program		audacity.sourceforge.net - Very handy free program for any audio editing you may need to do. You can record, edit (split up) and render audio into various formats.
AVG - Free Antivirus program		free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/ - A powerful antivirus program.
Firefox Browser		www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/  - Excellent alternate to Internet Explorer
EZThumbs Image Resizer		http://www.fookes.com/ezthumbs/index.php  - Easy to use image resizer for JPG pictures
