Get Listed With Google - Fast!

Wondering how to get a new site indexed (listed) on Google very quickly? Here's the best way I've found. In some cases, it has happened within hours.

Being in charge of support for Membergate membership site software, I typically help several membership sites a week get launched onto the internet for the first time.

One of the most common questions I hear during that time is "how do I get listed with Google as quickly as possible?".

Launch your site right by getting listed in Google quickly

The advice I give is pretty simple and it has proven successful time and time again.

In some cases, site owners have reported back to me that they started getting indexed by Google within hours of taking my advice.

One important thing to note is that I never manually submit a site to Google to be indexed.

Instead I recommend several things which will quickly get Googles attention. This will help lead Google's search "spiders" to start crawling your site.

Tip #1 Links, Links, Links...

The most important thing is to immediately get a few links from other sites to your site.

This is actually very easy to do.

In the case of Membergate customers, we always offer to put them on our list of active sites. This provides a nice solid external link to their site.

The Membergate.com site gets crawled by Google dozens of times every single day. I just looked at todays log for example and Google had visited 31 pages and links at the site.

We have found that getting 3 or 4 quality external links to a new site is a great way to get Google's attention.

Try visiting online forums that are relevant to your site's topic.

Provide helpful advice to some questions being asked. Most forums allow a "signature line" when you post there.

Give a good quality reply and then sign your name and a link to your site. For example I would end my posts with:

Tim Kerber
www.SmallBusinessWebSite.com

Again, make sure you are making a good contribution. Don't just post a useless reply just to get a link.

Tip #2 Adsense

We have found that sites which have Adsense ads pointing to their site tend to get Google's attention pretty quickly.

It makes sense.

You are a paying customer so Google likely wants to check you out pretty quickly.

It is worth starting a small Adsense campaign just for this purpose. The nice side benefit is that you will be sending visitors to your site as well.

Tip #3 Press Release

Use www.prweb.com to send out a press release about your site. I wouldn't bother paying for their paid service. Use the free submission. It isn't necessarily the publicity from the release you are sending out, although that is great too. The secret is that other sites carry prweb's releases on them. When you include a link or two to your site in the press release, that link gets posted on other sites which are carrying prweb's releases. Its a quick way to get quite a few links back to your site.

Tip #4 Google Toolbar

Although I can't confirm this one for sure, I don't think it can hurt to try. Using the free google toolbar (available at toolbar.google.com), enter your url for your site in the toolbar search feature. I have read accounts of this triggering Google to visit a site.

Keep In Mind...

Don't forget, you likely don't want Google visiting your site before it is time. They could start indexing pages on the site that you had not completed or perhaps weren't intending on keeping on there. When the time comes to launch your site however, these steps can go a long way to getting your site listed quickly.
