Major Factor To Succeeding Online
What It Takes
I get the chance to talk to many people who are various levels of success online. Some starting out, others having some success and some who are wildly successful online. Many times the conversation makes its way back to "what does it really take to succeed online?". If there was one set answer someone would be worth millions selling that solution to everyone. Life isn't that easy. I have had time to think about the various levels of success and there is a factor that definitely stands out. That big factor?
Just Do SOMETHING And Learn From It
That's right, many people that I talk to who are struggling are doing so because they are stuck in analysis mode. Sometimes called "analysis paralysis", its easy to understand that people want to analyize their options before starting out. However, the danger is getting stuck in analysis mode and never moving forward on anything.
My advice to that? Get a project or two (even just small ones) going online and learn from it.A very easy way is the following:
- create an ebook on a topic that you are familiar with (there are very inexpensive ebook compiler programs to do this for you)
- throw up a very basic sales page web site. If you want you can adapt one of the free site templates in our download area for your sales page
- get your product listed with clickbank
- pay for some pay per click traffic to get people to the sales page
Who knows, you may even make some money. But more importantly, you are going to learn things each step of the way. Everything you learn is going to help you out in future projects along the way. You will also discover other opportunities available to you as you educate yourself.
Recent Example This is exactly the advice I gave to a member of this site recently. I met him in person a few months back for the first time and we've had some great conversations since then. He knew nothing (zero) about getting a web page online but he was able to do so pretty quickly. He did it by getting Dreamweaver and then opening up other simple web pages to see how they were set up. He then learned how to create his own pages based on what he learned. I just checked out one of his sales pages last week and I was very impressed. His site was very sharp and is likely to do well for him. He had also set up a clickbank sales page for a product which he had rights to. He learned a lot of various aspects what it takes to start selling online. The famous saying is "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for life". This is very true. There is nothing like learning the skills which will move you forward online.
Personal Experience I am working on projects now that I did not have the experience or skills to pull off a year ago. It is simply an evolution for me towards things that I enjoy doing and new skills I have learned. I hope I am more successful with each project, but I realize that won't always be the case. It doesn't matter. I will continously be learning and trying out new things. Some will work, some won't. I am finding each new project is opening up new doors to me to explore. The important thing is that I will have at least tried and have learned from the experience. Do yourself a favor. Take the next step in a project that you have considering for awhile... You can't help but learn and benefit from the experience.
