Quality Graphics
It has not always been easy to find excellent quality graphics for use on your site.There were typically a few problems. They had to be:
- royalty free (allowing you to use them)
- affordable
- high quality / unique
I have written about one of my favorites in a prior article. That is a subscription to the Hemera graphic library. That is still a tremendous service and very affordable. I have come across one that is even more affordable. It is almost ridiculously affordable.
How about high quality, royalty free photographs for as low as .50 cents a piece? If that catches your interest, then you definitely want to explore istockphoto.com
Variety
The graphics and photography on the istockphoto site come from a variety of people. These include graphic artists, photographers etc. Because of this you can get everything from computer generated graphics:

Cost
This is absolutely the best price bargain I have come across for this quality of royalty free graphics. The site lets you buy "credits" for between .40 to .50 cents each, depending on the amount you buy.
You can then download the image in the size that you need them for. Everything from web site appropriate dimensions to full print color ads are available. A web page appropriate graphic file is only 1 credit (.50 cents). Even at 3 credits ($1.50), the full print graphics are incredibly affordable. Especially when you consider there are quite a few royalty free photography sites which sell similars sizes for $299 or more! istockphoto is definitely a site that you need to have in your web designing toolbox. It is sure to put some pressure on other sites to become more competitive in their pricing as well.
