Keeping an eye on important keywords can help bring in more money for your website. This free program can show you trends as they are emerging instantly. I monitor top 100 and 1000 keyword phrases to see if there new trends to watch that I might be able to market to. Without a doubt, the most useful keyword tracking service I use is Word Tracker found here. I have found so useful that I subscribe to this Word Tracking service for a year at a time. By knowing what is being searched for, I intentionally target my articles to focus on certain high searched for terms. The only problem with some of the compiled lists is that they can be weeks or months old. This isn't such a big deal but can make a difference if you wanted to move on a new trend as it was happening.
Real Time Keywords Stats
I found an interesting free program which allows you to watch keyword statistics as they happen. The program is Analogx's Keyword live which you can download for free here. The program is pretty straight forward:
You start it running and it monitors several top search engines in real time. The longer you leave it running the more search results it analyzes. It then lists the top keywords and phrases as they are typed into the search engines. If you leave it running over the course of your day, you are likely to discover a break news article or sharp increase for a particular term.
Advanced Profit Tactic
If you really wanted to work some profits in real time, you could do a search for websites that have affiliate programs having to do with the term. You could join the program and then put up a google adwords ppc campaign to take advantage of this new wave of interest. Once things have settled back down you are free to stop the ppc account. It makes for some interesting results when you let it run for awhile. If nothing else, it reminds me of different niche markets that I could be selling to!
