Free Audio Editor
I finally found an audio editor to help clean up and edit recordings I have. I didn't want to spend big money but wanted some good features. Here's a great free program I settled on.
The program is called Audacity from Sourceforge and you can download it for free here.
The reason I was searching around is that I have had a number of occasions in the past to "clean up" some of the sound recordings I have. Some of these recordings have included:
- Online audio interviews I have downloaded
- Narrations to my online videos
- Audio messages for websites I created
I did not need anything fancy. Basically I was looking to be able to:
- Filter out some background noise sounds
- Fade in or out audio
- Increase the Bass of some audios
- Split audio files at certain points
Using The Software
The program is straight forward. (1) Open up the audio file you want (.wav, .aiff, .au, .mp3 etc) (2) Click and drag over the audio portion you wish to apply editing effects to (3) Choose the effect you wish to apply from the Effect choices on the menu. This is a very capable, yet simple audio editor. If you use audio at all on your computer, it is well worth including in your tool kit of software programs. Download it for free here.
